this is a classic joke, its been around forever, it still makes me roll with laughter,,,,,if you try to take it literaly, then you miss the point....if you don't get what the message is, then you have no sense of humor....its the ARISTOCRATS that is the joke, and its so damn funny

Gilbert Gottfreid isnt funny. Even when he's yelling, or a parrot for that matter.

I believe for a fact that comedy greats like Red Skelton, Foster Brooks, Red Buttons, and Frank Gorshen would be turning in their graves right now if they had known of this sick and grotesque humor.

telling this joke is more about its history than anything else. look at it this way: why is hating Jews so taboo right now? obviously, only because of the horrible history of widespread antisemitism. in fact, most of the time the history behind things is much more important for society than those things themselves. understand this joke's significance in the history of modern comedy, and maybe you'll see why respected comedians roll on the floor breathless when they hear it.

I hear you and I now know there are differant versions of the joke...as an example Martin Mull tells a toned down version of it...others do as well...but I doubt that Carson told it with the sick spin involving kids that Saget does....or the way that loser Godfried does.

This has been around since Vaudeville, it was Johnny Carson's favorite joke, lighten up to the dark side

But where is the comedic value in it? what is the point? differant sexual acts with kids?..it is sad that anyone could find humor in this..no matter how it is told and no matter for what purpose...why even go there? I doubt that the truly great comedians (Berle, Hope, Benny, Ball) would even approach a topic such as this. Only the bottom feeders would hope for a laugh with this trash.

You're just supposed to laugh, there's no punch line, which is the point of comedy, not a formulaic journey to a prestige like magic, and often is the case in jokes, but a journey of laughter.
