In each case the creationist statements are shown to be outrageously stupid by even the most rudimentary knowledge of science. In this episode it is shown how the just how the bizarre creationists claim is that the universe needs to be finely tuned

Treehugger, its clearly said in the video that gravity is not a pre-requisite for life. Yup in our naturalistic universe we have the naturalistic process of gravity that leads to the nucleosynthesis of most the higher elements, but ultimately, this doesnt change the fact that gravity is not a requirement for life. Again u merely argue for a naturalistic universe, in which I completely agree.

gravity is said to be responsible for the fusion of hydrogen to form the other elements in stars. Without gravity there would be no elements beyond hydrogen and no way to bring anything together in order to react; electrostatic attraction would not suffice. The relation of a speck of iron to a rock its on is not at all like a human is to the earth: the human is made of and depends on all the chemicals and all the interactions in the whole rest of their particular wet rock to exist and survive.

So this puts a question on the creationist: given this, why is the Universe clearly made the "hard way" that seems to require no intervention. If the creationist disputes that, and says that it DID require intervention, then he is undermining his own claim of fine tuning in the constants of nature - for what purpose would the constants of nature NEED to be fine tuned, if an interventionist God can get any outcome simply by willing it?

No, that's not in dispute - but that is only true if you think of the Universe as being constrained to evolve through naturalistic means, through generations of stars creating the heavier element. But with an omnipotent, all knowing creator God present, you aren't constrained to natural means - God could simply snap his metaphysical fingers, and have heavy elements form...

Can a square have five sides...for some reason that idea just sounds like one of those chinese parables that your supposed to meditate on like "what is the sound of one hand clapping".

By the way, he's not a lawyer, he's a journalist, and he gave up that job to be a pastor in some mega-church in Chicago.

Hahah... Strobel. I read "The Case for Christ", and I thought it was kinda convincing, until I read the rebuttals, that is. Anyway, I think Strobel was just parroting the stuff Creationists tell him. Funny, for an ex-Atheist, he never seems to consult with his former kin for their responses.

That's quite interesting. I appreciate the information. This is why I should have taken physics instead of geology. Sigh.

Actually this wouldn't happen at all ZorkFox. Look up electron shielding on Wikipedia.
