I resent being punished by being assessed higher taxes on my property because I keep my lawn cut, roof shingled and windows glazed.

They don't have to believe this, you clearly don't and were debating it, but currently under US law my viewpoint has one out in the ballot box. It is therefore your duty as a US citizen to respect that. Continue to lobby for your "Every man for himself" America, just expect a fierce fight.

You help people who are unable to work (eg medical condition). Those who are able to work you provide them with an education, medical care, and decent wage once they find a job. You also should probably aid them in finding a job. You don't pay them for doing nothing however.

Well we need force or else people will free ride on the benefits without aiding the institution at all.

Aid in general usually does more good than harm, but if I have to pick I prefer aid that teaches people how to fish rather than giving them fish. Micro loans, funds so the local farms can produce necessary food, etc. Essentially aid that not only helps alleviate the pain, but stimulates the local economy.

"Though foreign aid is good, and we should do more. " Have you any idea how much damage food aid and the like have done in foreign countries. Foreign aid often destroys entire economies that never recover by undermining the local economy and ruining its businesses.

"Unfortunately you can't opt out, unless you some how are able to prevent anyone from treating you like a human being." So what you are saying is that everyone should be enslaved to what you idea of being human is. That sounds exceptionally ominous and reminiscent of the Hilter eugenics type thinking.

3) Ideally it would extend to the whole world, but because the US federal gov't only has jurisdiction over America most of what we do must benefit US citizens. Though foreign aid is good, and we should do more. But you only need jurisdiction to enforce obligation on the losers of your plan. I am sure the people of the world would gladly accept all your human obligation of pity.

2) Full equality would be communism, I don't support that. But the question was on what basis you draw the line where you do. Is it just to avoid the label communist?
