Rather than dealing with the true need of our world, one of divergent opinions and views, that we should figure out how to peaceably coexist with those differences, you want to form an army and become militant on behalf of an impossible goal of creating peace by everybody believing one way. And you do this by stomping on the graves of those that sacrificed themselves to the building of a republic that protects free thinkers. You need help son.

Sir, The gravestones you use to construct a hero motif as a sales prop for your religious beliefs include Atheists, Agnostics etc.. Your video slanders them and mocks their contribution. You also walk upon sacrifices to empower a democratic republic that separates church and state. If your message is so successful and powerful use images resulting from those results. Don't steal or co-opt images of defenders of the belief we should have freedom from religion.

Would Jesus agree with Paul's construction of a military framework by which to spread his message? Soldiers take up arms to further a cause (whereas volunteers contribute effort (volunteer + soldier = Volunteer Soldier)). Did Jesus arm himself and did he believe weapons should be used to promote his philosophy?

also eric, make sure to not make the mistake taking Pauls wordings out of context. the example of a soldier is just imagery. the command is not to be a literal soldier, but to have the discipline and training of one. Paul also uses the example of an athlete... not cause Christians should throw footballs per-se... but because the best athletes have incredible self-discipline.

Sir, Mr. Driscoll uses direct images of soldiers for imagery thus I assert my comments to be well within context. And why not use the image of a committed parent, farmer, teacher health practitioner etc.. instead of soldier? They exert significant discipline training and personal investment towards and ultimate good. I'm still hoping for a response to my soldier vs. volunteer question earlier posted.

the issue is that in the first century, parents, farmers, etc. were not viewed as jobs requiring intense discipline, but athletes and soldiers were respected and viewed as the most disciplined of positions, hence making Pauls analogy very effective.

and about volunteer soldiers, Paul was not saying we should take up arms, but he was saying that we should be devoted to a leader/kingdom. For Christians, it is the kingdom of heaven that requires our commitment, the commitment that a good soldier would have for his country.

Did Jesus not speak to a devotion towards mankind, rather than him, through acts of grace and kindness? Again, soldiering can be one method of devotion (not all are) but not the only. If soldering is Mr. D's message does his sect have a uniform and why does he not where it?

Jesus spoke of a devotion to makind on as being the synonymous with having devotion for him.

first off... typo on "where"-ing the uniform. secondly, unless you want Paul or Driscoll to list off EVERY position of discipline possible, we have to stick with examples. finally, Jesus came both to help the needy, and call people to his kingdom, even going as far as saying he would split parents from children.

Mark spoke hard and straight. His references to the type of Jesus some think he is was amusing(gay hippie in a dress) and his language describing the twenty somethings was right on track. He may need to wait on the twenty somethings though. It has been my experience that what he described are of vast more importance than becoming a soldier for Christ. I appreciate Driscoll's rant though

Sir, So Paul's effect is sought at this time and that 1st century message is still effective. Well, I understand that people can harbor potential for antiquated forms of stimulation but why not create the message using a 21st century body of knowledge? We've certainly learned a bit in 2000 years. Did Mr. D. approach his audience with the belief they are operating with 1st century reasoning? In essence you are stating that in this 21st century Mr. D's
