markthebass ::: Favorites 2007-07-29 20:40:54 Enjoyable - Thijs Van Leer great, but the bassist somehow misses the point and the guitarist really lacks feel. Loved the band ever since the early 70s as a teenager and really looking forward to seeing them live in December. __________________________________________________
cliftonearl ::: Favorites 2007-07-22 13:57:59 Nothing like Thijs on the Hammond B-3. Quite spiritual!!! __________________________________________________
flammaster ::: Favorites 2007-07-12 00:18:07 I want to see this live! I never saw them back in the day! __________________________________________________
misterbassist ::: Favorites 2007-06-01 01:15:18 great music.. __________________________________________________
cristicini ::: Favorites 2007-04-03 22:28:52 I saw them in BajaProg festival Mexico, and the guitar player seemed to lack feel, but was amazingly quick and skilled. He literally left my jaw open in amazment. It's old, yes, but still good, smooth and incredibly tight. Great bass player and well the other guys are veterans, which makes me wonder, if it would be better to have a new yougn crew all around, writing new oringinals instead of the old Focuse. Were are the new young bands, like PRR? __________________________________________________
chrisart7 ::: Favorites 2007-03-20 16:35:15 Actually, "Harem Scarem" was the follow-up single to the very successful "Sylvia". Interestingly, Niels' guitar-playing here reminds one a bit more of Hendrix in some ways than Akkerman (must be that Strat sound and use of the 'whammy bar'. __________________________________________________
chrisart7 ::: Favorites 2007-03-19 19:20:25 In early 1974 this was the Focus single that failed to follow up the success of "Hocus Pocus" and signaled the downward slide of the band. The drumming (Pierre van der Linden) on this live version is much more exciting than that of the original studio version (with Colin Allen). I miss van Leer's falsetto---should've quit smoking, old boy! __________________________________________________
shwilly ::: Favorites 2007-03-05 10:54:55 Yeah, it loses something... but it also gains certain things: Niels van der Steenhoven happens to kick ass!!! __________________________________________________
mrspivvy ::: Favorites 2006-12-24 15:20:10 great stuff. loses something without the original lineup but hey nothing lasts forever __________________________________________________ |
